The Newbery Medal
The Newbery Medal, which honors the author making the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children, is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association.
The Printz Award
The Michael L. Printz Award annually honors the best book written for teens, based entirely on its literary merit, each year. In addition, the Printz Committee names up to four honor books, which also represent the best writing in young adult literature.
The will of Joseph Pulitzer, a crusading newspaper journalist, provided for the establishment of the Pulitzer Prizes. Since its inception in 1917, the prizes have recognized the best in journalism, letters, drama and music. Many consider it the most prestigious award a journalist or author can achieve.
The Bangkok Book Awards are run by a group of international school librarians in Bangkok. The award is designed to celebrate excellence in children's global literature and create a shared local community of enthusiastic readers.

The Man Booker Prize
The Booker Prize, which aims to reward the best novel of the year.
National Book Award
One of the USA's most prestigious literary prizes.
The National Book Critics Circle Award
Annually recognizes books in five categories: fiction, general nonfiction, biography/autobiography, poetry, and criticism.

The Nebula Awards
Given to best Science Fiction/Fantasy novel, novella, novelette, short story, script
Swedish engineer Alfred Nobel provided for the establishment of the Nobel Foundation in his will in 1895. Since 1901, it has recognized achievement in physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, peace, and economics.
The PEN/Faulkner Award
The PEN/Faulkner Award is affiliated with PEN (Poets, Playwrights, Editors, Essayists, and Novelists) and is named for William Faulkner, the author of "The Sound and the Fury". The award recognizes an outstanding fiction book selected by judges who are themselves, fiction writers.
