DAY ONE:   Review and Ponder

Your task today is to review the three SDG's you selected in class last period with the questions to ponder.

DAY TWO:   Exploring for Focus

Research, Relax, Read, Reflect.

Your task today is to research, relax, read, note, and reflect. It is to explore and then decide on the specific problem.  This means you will read widely to find a variety of sub-topics.

Part 1:  MIND MAPPING (In your notebook draw a mind map that shows the issues, problems, and/or controversies that interest you the most)

DAY THREE: Developing Questions

Essential Question:  So What's Really the Global Issue?

Your task today is to look at the sub-to[ice of your mind map in your notebook. What is the one issue, problem, and/or controversy you are most interested in?

What questions do you have about the problem you have selected? (These questions will guide your research to bring awareness and action to your problem).

DAY FOUR:  Refining Questions & Finding Information

Your task today is to review a partner's questions and give feedback. You will determine what their top 5 questions are and make a positive comment. Then you will refine your questions based on the feedback. Finally, you will start trying to answer your top 5 questions.  Be sure to add the citation to your digital notecard.

DAY FIVE:  Evaluating Websites

It is important to evaluate sources before you decided to them.  Today we are going to practice Evaluating Websites using the 5W's.

The 5 W’s of Website Evaluation

Who wrote the pages and are they an expert? Is a biography of the author included? How can I find out more about the author?

What does the author say is the purpose of the site? What else might the author have in mind for the site? What makes the site easy to use? What information is included and does this information differ from other sites?

When was the site created? When was the site last updated?

Where does the information come from? Where can I look to find out more about the sponsor of the site?

Why is this information useful for my purpose? Why should I use this information? Why is this page better than another?

Day SIX: Taking action to solve a global problem
Essential Question

What can you and others do to take action to help solve global issues?

Your task today is to investigate-
  • What is already being done to solve the problem you are studying?
  • What can YOU do specifically to help solve your problem?
Possible sources for ideas--
