WRITE AND PRODUCE A TV BROADCAST - 60 SECONDS

1) Pick an issue you are passionate to learn more about.

2) Dig Deep - Scoop up as much information as you can.

3) You are a Reporter - Use what you know about how to take powerful notes.

3) Through the format of a TV broadcast, you and a co-anchor will be teaching an audience what they most need to know about one of these important issues, including:

  • background information on the topic, and
  • introducing a teen activist who is making a DIFFERENCE!

  • How do I know if they are reliable sources? As a Reporter, you want to make sure your sources are credible!

STEP THREE

What are some things to consider when I am reading and beginning to take notes? 

Note Taking Strategy

  • Record information
  • Record source citation information
  • Organize your notes

Process

  • Skim and scan to identify if the source (newspaper, magazine or journal article etc.) is going to be helpful to you.
  • Once it has been identified then close reading and understanding is required to identify sections within the source.
  • When taking notes. It is a good idea to also include the citation and direct quote from the original source so that so that you can go back and review if needed
